Welcome
In Surrey there are over 100,000 people providing unpaid care for relatives or friends who have serious disabilities. Many of them are on call "24/7", sometimes for years on end. This can be a real drain on the carer's physical and mental health.
Why on earth were three of our trustees and our chief executive travelling through Surrey dressed as The Three Kings?
"We all know the story of the Three Kings and the three gifts that they brought at Christmas - gold, frankincense and myrrh. Well our research has shown that Carers think that the work that we do brings them three benefits: Quality of Life, because they have some time away from their caring responsibility, 'Me-Time' when they have a break to do things for themselves, and 'Peace of Mind' because they trust our staff to look after their loved-ones." Crossroads Care Surrey supports 1,500 carers by providing them with regular short breaks from their responsibilities. A trained, professional member of our staff will take over whilst the carer has some 'me-time' - to work, spend time with their other children, go to the shops, look after their own health needs or simply to rest.
Crossroads Care Surrey has recently completed a research project to analyse what we do and what our carers think of us.
